Upgrades
Every so often, BoltWire releases a new version with tweaks and improvements. You will want to keep BoltWire updated to the most recent version, so you always have the latest capabilities, patches, and fixes. It's usually a snap to upgrade. Here's how you do it:Download the latest release, extract the contents of the zip file, and simply copy the new files over your current BoltWire installation. All your sites are updated automatically.
All site customizations take place in the various site folders--so none of your changes will be affected.
Sometimes, a change in the core engine will affect how your site works. So it is always important to read the changelog in our release history. If jumping several versions, read ALL the changelogs.
If something goes wrong, you can revert to a prior version, by overwriting your installation with the earlier version.
Should you find a bug in an upgrade, please report it to the mailing list immediately. We'll get it fixed as quick as we can, and often suggest an emergency patch even faster.
Lastly, even if you don't think there's going to be any problems, it is always a good idea to make a backup of your entire site, just in case something goes wrong.
