Status: Experimental.
Maintainer: Caveman.
Downloads: forum.backup. Requires Pagedata?.
This backup includes several pages for setting up an instant forum for your site. Pretty cool--using some of BoltWire's latest features. Must have version 2.15 or later. Files in this backup file include:
Installation
First, make sure you have pageviews(pagedata plugin) working in your forum* hierarchy (or sitewide). It's used to show how popular posts are. Also enable the postcount plugin for your forum* and main.forum* hierarchies (or sitewide). The forum uses it to count posts and comments.
Second, (recommended) add forum: forum to your site folders page. Do this BEFORE extracting the forum.backup file. If you change it later, you will have to manually move all your forum pages.
Third, extract the forum backup file. (Use action.plugins).
Fourth, enable the following permissions on site.auth.write:
forum*: @key_forum
site.public.forum*: @key_forum
Also make sure you have the new default setting for site.auth.view in your local settings
site.public*: @guest
Fifth, login as an admin and go to main.forum to begin creating forum areas. Once you have created the forum areas you desire, edit the Forum Areas section of the page to match your forum area names.
That's about it.
Note: this plugin can be configured about any way you want. If you have questions, post them to the mailing list. It's labeled experimental only because others may have input on ways to improve it. Also, I plan to rework the pageviews/postcount plugins to 1) merge them and 2) take better advantage of the new site.public area. These changes will likely require an upgrade to this plugin.
